Last Moon of Winter’s Watchng

last moon of Winter’s watching,
dark with cold and Spring in wanting-
the sky waits with open arms receiving,
the night now leaves winter’s dying.
holding the stars,
like seeds of life-
sprinkles of light,
thaw now the night-
from winter’s embrace,
watching the sun’s pink sky-
blend with the night bloom,
calling warmth again with-
the fragrance of rain,
snow melting against black,
bringing in spring.
welcoming the growing full moon,
spring worm moon,
that softens earth
to usher life’s birthing
as we say good night,
to winter’s final dance.
