The preparations for this day were underway. I rose to meditate and honor the day, that I am alive and well and getting ready to celebrate the launch of my book ~ Seasons of the Soul:Transitions and Shifts of Life with a celebration in my home.
A funny and loving side story while I was shopping at Trader Joe’s for the party. I was at the check out counter, and the check out lady said, “you must be having a party!” I replied “Why yes I am, I am celebrating the launch of my newly released poetry book, I am quite exited!” She rang the bell and yelled, “someone get this lady some flowers she just became an author!” I was thrilled and shocked at the same time as she handed me the bouquet of flowers. I was filled with so much appreciation and gratitude, and kindly thanked her.
I love making my home inviting, like a sanctuary of relaxation and celebration at the same time. I have my 2 dear sons Jonah and Dylan to thank for helping me clean, prepare and set up for my celebration. I thank my dear twin sister Marianne and dear best friend Denise who came early to help set up the appetizers and drinks. I thank all those who came to celebrate with me, I honor you and your presence and those who could not make it, I know you were with me in spirit.
Having my children there meant a great deal to me. It was also important to me to have my son Dylan there, who created the beautiful artwork for inside my book. I had a stretched canvas board created with his images for the event so everyone could view his magnificent work. I missed having my nephew Josiah being there, who created the magnificent cover for my book, could not make it because he had to work.
It was a night of eating, drinking and celebrating. It was a night of reciting, honoring those who were with me during my publishing journey, and book signing. Everyone wanted the artist edition with the images in color which totally enhance the seasons. This was both exciting for myself and my son Dylan. He began to pull out some of his portfolios of artwork and many asked him to autograph their books as well.
It ended with my dear opera friend coming later in the evening from doing a performance at Lyric Opera House. She sang a song for us, sadly I wished we took pictures but I so enjoyed her company and having her share her voice with us. I celebrate my vision, my passion and my words in print and know with the deepest, truest desire of my heart, this is only the beginning <3
